Disadvantages of Immigration

Immigration is the introduction of new people into a habitat or population. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said there are more than 200 million migrants around the world today. Europe hosted the largest number of immigrants, with 70.6 million people in 2005, the latest year for which figures are available. North America, with over 45.1 million immigrants, is second, followed by Asia, which hosts nearly 25.3 million. Most of today's migrant workers come from Asia. The United Nations estimates that there are 214 million migrants across the globe, an increase of about 37% in two decades.
There are a lot of disadvantages of immigration, some of them are:
· Immigrants may bring in diseases that prevailed in their country.
· Less educated immigrants are believed to increase theft, violence and other malpractices in a nation.
· A person who is an immigrant does not have good conditions in the other country, for example they have problems to find a good job or they do not have access to health service, among others.
Immigrants try to find a better quality of life, but the most of the time they suffer abuse and discrimination. It is important to note that the immigrants are human beings and they deserve respect.
